CORINNA BARSAN

I had a career in publishing for fifteen years. Most recently, I was a Senior Editor at Grove Atlantic, where I edited literary fiction, literature in translation, thrillers, memoir, and narrative nonfiction. Prior to that I was an editor at Other Press and I began as an editorial assistant at Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
In 2018, I decided to work directly with creatives to help their projects achieve the fullest expression. At the root of my practice is a belief that every story has a way forward, which requires deep listening, trust, and courage.
The craft of revision is one I've learned through my editorial work, my own writing journey (having received an MFA in fiction from Hunter College), and as a teacher. For over a decade, I was an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Columbia University's MFA Writing Program, where I taught a popular workshop for fiction and nonfiction writers called Revise Like An Editor.
My focus currently is primarily fiction, but I take on nonfiction when it's a good fit. I have a special place in my heart for spiritually-minded projects that overlap with my work in the healing arts.
SOME AUTHORS I HAVE WORKED WITH:
Kathleen Alcott, Olivia Clare, Paula Daly, Pamela Binnings Ewen, Bryan Denson, Sharon Lynn Fisher, Jennifer Givhan, Samantha Harvey, Michelle Hoover, Robert Lanza, Alice LaPlante, Faith Merino, Bonnie Nadzam, Kenzaburo Oe, Audur Ava Olafsdottir, Richard Polsky, Anna Quinn, Karolina Ramqvist, Sarah Schmidt, Mark Haskell Smith, Rob Spillman, Margaret Wrinkle, Yan Lianke, John Zada.
